Church History

Huisache Avenue Baptist Church was chartered in April 1934 by Pastor Lewis Entzminger. As a result of the prayerful efforts of it's dedicated charter members, they had a vision for a Baptist church that could reach San Antonio with the Gospel and impact the world for Christ. Now, 75 years later, Huisache is a growing, thriving church that is impacting San Antonio and the surrounding area in a powerful way. Through Biblical Discipleship, Huisache Baptist Church is training God's people to know what they believe and why they believe it. 

Historically, Huisache has always had a heart for missions. The mission's outreach of Huisache continues to grow and now has a part in sending the gospel to over 20 foreign fields supporting missionaries and missions projects. 

Our Mission

The friendly people of Huisache Baptist Church would like to invite you to join us for our church service. We are a thriving, growing church with a heart for reaching out to our community and the world. We have designed the ministries of our church to accomplish three fundamental tasks. First and foremost, it is our job to reach the lost world with the glorious Gospel of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Second, we seek to nurture and motivate them to a place of genuine discipleship; seeking to be conformed to the image of Christ. Finally, we set out to train them to make a difference in the everyday world in which they live through the word of God. This is all done in an environment of love, encouragement, and accountability while seeking to live In view of eternity. If you have found that something is missing in your walk with the Lord or if you just can't find your way, we invite you to try Huisache Baptist Church. We pray that it will become your church home.
